Sentai Filmworks is an anime licensing studio under Section 23 Films, specializing in Japanese anime shows and films. It is considered a successor to the now defunct ADV Films. As of 2022, Sentai holds the rights to "The Big O".

Overview[]

When distribution company Bandai Entertainment ceased DVD production entirely, "The Big O" and many other shows licensed by the company for stateside distribution went into licensing limbo. Sunrise eventually announced that they would pitch their shows to other distribution companies. The rights to "The Big O" went Sentai Filmworks.

On June 20, 2017, Sentai Filmworks released the first blu-ray collection of "The Big O". Two versions were available: a standard 4-disc blu-ray set, and a limited-run "20th Anniversary Edition" that contained the 4-disc set, a Steelbook case, and the "Metropolis Special Booklet" art book.
